WandaVision has continued to intrigue viewers over the course of its run. Fans have been hooked watching the adventures of Wanda Maximoff and Vision on the Disney Plus series as the Marvel Cinematic Universe couple live the high life in Westview. However, it has become clear that the sitcom world is merely an illusion.
Last week’s installment saw Geraldine reveal that she was really Agent Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). Expelled from the sitcom world, she revealed to Agent Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis that Wanda was the one responsible for everything happening in the world of Westview. This week, however, we returned to the world of Westview for more misadventures from Wanda and Vision.
WandaVision Episode 5 Summary
The 5th episode of WandaVision saw Wanda and Vision’s children age rapidly as they avoided any emotional trauma by aging upwards. However, this led Wanda to a conversation about the importance of family, at which point she referenced her brother Quicksilver.
Pietro appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015 and was portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who Maximoff also worked with on Godzilla the year before). The character was killed by Ultron.
However, in Episode 5’s closing moments, Wanda was greeted by a strange figure with gray hair at the front door claiming to be her brother Pietro. This character was played by Evan Peters. But is he who he says he is?
Ending of WandaVision Episode 5
The stranger at Wanda’s front door is actually the X-Men‘s version of Pietro. Named Peter Maximoff in the X-Men film series, Peter was indeed portrayed by Evan Peters.
It’s unknown why Wanda “recast” Pietro in her head but the fact of the matter is that this is a huge development for the MCU. Now that Disney own the rights to Fox’s X-Men franchise, they are able to initiate crossovers such as this and this could be a major step in bringing the X-Men to the MCU.
