Video game streaming is starting to democratize. And this without necessarily talking about cloud gaming. For example, you can stream your own games from home.
Video games have evolved a lot in recent years, especially in the way we consume them. It is now played a lot on mobile, for example, and increasingly via streaming. In other words, it is possible to play very resource-intensive titles on very poorly performing devices, and this in complete mobility. There are many solutions to do this. The application Steam Link from Valve can do just that. It has been available on macOS since today.
Steam Link with on macOS
If you like the idea of being able to play video games that are at home but from another machine, then you might be interested to learn that Valve has just released its Steam Link app on macOS. This will allow macOS users to connect to another local computer and stream games from that computer to their Mac.
An additional option to play on Mac
For those who do not know, Steam Link is an application developed by Valve that allows users to stream games on a variety of devices, such as from a computer to another computer or from a computer to a smartphone. This solution could be very useful for Mac users who cannot play certain games precisely because of the Mac machine – whether it is hardware limitations or some compatibility concern.
And since all the calculation is done on the computer running the game, you don’t need to have a high-performance machine to enjoy it. Any computer – or almost – will do. Valve recommends, however, that gamers have a 5 GHz WiFi or Ethernet connection for the best possible experience.
Valve had introduced its Steam Link app a few years ago, but Apple was totally against streaming apps at that time, which caused Valve concerns in this area. Today, the situation has changed enough for Steam Link to be available on the Mac App Store.
