OnePlus would launch a OnePlus 9 RT next October, a slight evolution of the OnePlus 9 R, reserved for certain markets

OnePlus usually launches – in recent years at least, two flagships each year. One is introduced at the start of the year and the other during the second half of the year. That being said, there have been rumors lately that there might not be a OnePlus 9T this year.

It would appear that ultimately the plans have changed, or that these rumors were unfounded. Indeed, a new device would still be planned and the launch would take place during the month of October.

OnePlus will launch a OnePlus 9 RT next October

If a report from Android Central is to be believed, it is rumored that OnePlus is currently planning to launch a OnePlus 9 RT in October. Given the nomenclature, it would therefore not be an update of the OnePlus 9 but rather an improvement of the OnePlus 9R.

This means that similar features are to be expected, like the AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, but there could still be an improvement over the Snapdragon 870 chip built into the OnePlus 9R. A more efficient version therefore.

A slight evolution of the OnePlus 9 R, reserved for certain markets

Among other rumors circulating, it could be that this OnePlus 9 RT has a 4500mAh battery compatible with 65W fast charging and a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor.

It would also be the first OnePlus smartphone to run on OxygenOS 12 when it was released, a version of the manufacturer’s home OS based on Android 12. It would therefore do better, on this point, than the OnePlus 9.

That being said, you shouldn’t get excited too quickly. Indeed, the OnePlus 9 RT should benefit from very limited availability. This version would only be available in India and China, at least for now. So do not expect to get your hands on it in October, unless you live in one of these countries.
