The weak point of our current electronic devices is clearly the battery. In addition to being relatively weak in terms of power, it also breaks down very quickly.

From time to time, our electronic devices stop working as they should, or as well as they should. Sometimes a reboot does the job, but other times it takes more.

This is something Apple tries to make its customers avoid, when it comes to the iPhone and its battery at least. So with the update iOS 14.5, the Cupertino company will introduce a new battery calibration tool.

iOS 14.5 will introduce a battery recalibration tool

Currently iOS 14.5 is still in beta but in the latest version this new feature has appeared. If it had to be summarized, we would say that this tool aims to allow a recalibration of the battery.

So, if your iPhone battery is behaving strangely, if it gives you less battery life than it should, you might be able to fix it with this tool. Apple is warning that the whole process may take several weeks. In other words, it will be a fairly long operation. But if the result is there, after all, it is great.

A process lasting several weeks that should do some good

Note, and it’s quite strange finally, Apple specifies that this currently only works with the iPhone 11, while the iPhone 12 is the latest model.

“IOS 14.5, which will arrive later this spring, includes an update allowing the battery health check system to recalibrate the battery to its maximum capacity on the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.”

Apple already offers some tools for users to check their iPhone battery health, see this new feature as an extension. We will obviously have to wait to test the thing in real conditions to judge its effectiveness, but the Apple brand at least has the merit of offering an option to test before having, if necessary, to bring his device to Apple for repair.
