Google Chat is now accessible directly through the Gmail app on iOS. Further proof, if necessary, of a new phase in instant messaging according to Google.

Google has never really found the perfect solution for its instant messaging service. Just list the different services offered over the years. Today, Hangouts is dying to give way, in particular, to Google Chat. The latter is also now accessible directly via the Gmail application on iOS.

Google integrates Chat into the Gmail app on iOS

Google has many services to allow users to stay in touch and communicate with each other. One of them is therefore Google Chat. Usually, however, this requires switching from one application to another. Today, the Mountain View firm has decided to simplify the lives of users a little. According to a 9to5Google report, a recent update to the Gmail app on iOS has integrated Chat into the app.

What to simplify the use of the service on a daily basis

As you can see in the image above, Google Chat now has its own tab in the menu at the bottom of the page. Chat is in addition to other communication services like Rooms and Meet. Google hasn’t officially announced when this really happened, but early adopters are starting to see the changes.

This means that the changes made by Google were concentrated on the server side. Users don’t have to do anything to benefit from it. That being said, if you don’t see this new menu yet, make sure you have the latest version of Gmail installed on your iOS device. And if this menu refuses to appear, you will have to wait. By the time the deployment is complete.

In any case, this is a little novelty that should be very appreciable for those who use Google’s messaging services a lot. If you are, then this update should be of interest to you. You can then contact your loved ones without leaving Gmail, if necessary.
