SAINT LOUIS – Danny Jansen hit a three-run homer and a solo shot, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added a home run, and the Toronto Blue Jays thrashed the St. Louis Cardinals 8-1 on Tuesday night.

Kevin Gausman (4-3) pitched six innings, striking out eight and walking none. He gave up four hits and beat the Cardinals for the first time in eight appearances.

Toronto split honors in the two-game series and snapped the Cardinals’ four-game winning streak.

Jordan Hicks (1-4) went just over three innings in his first career start against the Blue Jays. He allowed four runs and as many hits, in a feat that included five walks.

Alejandro Kirk led off the fourth inning with a single and Matt Chapman walked before Jansen homered to make it 4-0.

For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans Santiago Espinal 4-0 with an RBI, Guerrero 4-2 with a run scored and an RBI, Teoscar Hernández 5-1 with an RBI, Raimel Tapia 4-1 with a run scored. Mexican Kirk 4-2 with a run scored.

For the Cardinals, the Panamanian Edmundo Sosa 1-0. The Venezuelan Juan Yepez 4-0.
