Xavier Biscayzacu recently signed his first professional contract with Deportivo Sporting Club.
Xavier Biscayzacú is one of the current promises in world soccer, standing out in Defensor Sporting Club in the lower categories, although he already signed his first professional contract at only 18 years old, causing a dispute for him between the Mexican and Uruguayan National Teams.
The young player has dual nationality, which has led him to be called up by both national teams, although he still has not chosen which one he will represent in the future, a situation that undoubtedly has the leaders of both countries nervous, since this situation has been repeated a lot in recent years with other teams and other players.
Disputes over dual nationality are one of the most recurrent in soccer, especially when the player can choose between teams that compete at the highest soccer level or that have the opportunity to give great projection to the professional player.
There comes a time when the player has to choose between one side or the other, according to FIFA regulations, renouncing to be able to represent any of the two selections in the future. That is the case of Xavier Biscayzacú, an 18-year-old born in Veracruz but with Uruguayan nationality thanks to his father, Gustavo Bizcayzacú, who played in Liga Mx.
Who is Xavier Biscayzacú?
Xavier Biscayzacú is a current player of Defensor Sporting U-20, being a fundamental piece for his club in the last edition of the Copa Libertadores of the category, something that led even the club of the first division of Uruguay to sign him during this month.
He is the son of Gustavo “El grillito Biscayzacú who played in Mexican soccer in clubs such as Veracruz, Atlante and Necaxa, being during his stay in the port of Jarocho when Xavier was born, being the only one of his children to do so on Mexican soil.
He was born on March 28, 2005, so he is currently 18 years old, something that undoubtedly has not been an impediment for him to demonstrate his great soccer quality on the field. Just for being born in Mexico he has that nationality; however, it is thanks to his father that he also has the Uruguayan nationality.
During 2020 he was called by the Mexican National Under-16 Team to join some training sessions at the High Performance Center (CAR), however, he was not called. This situation was taken advantage of by the Uruguayan national team, who called him under the direction of Diego Alonso to be a sparring partner in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
A situation that seemed to have tilted things to one side, but it has been reported that the tricolor has returned to the charge for him, calling him again but now with the U-18 category, thus preventing his talent to stay with the albiceleste team.
The same player has detailed that he still does not know with which national team he will stay, so the calls can mark the change, and it will also depend on him to attend or not the call that has been made for the following matches.
As he continues to grow in soccer and in age, the time is getting closer when he will have to choose one of the two sides, although it will also be the combined teams who will have to give him the right tools to feel confident for his future.
This is not the first time Mexico has had to fight for a player, with Alejandro Zendejas, Julián Araujo, Marcelo Flores, Santiago Giménez and Jonathan González being some of the most recent cases.
