The coach of the Spanish team believes that penalties are no longer a lottery, and the more they practice them, the better they can kick them
The Spanish team is getting ready with everything to face this Tuesday the duel for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar 2022 against the Moroccan team.
Coach Luis Enrique knows that anything can happen in this duel and that is why he has thought about preparing his players for every possible scenario.
For this reason, he asked his managers, before starting the World Cup concentration, to kick more than 1,000 penalties in their clubs with the intention of improving their techniques.
“More than a year ago in some concentrations I told the players ‘gentlemen, each of you have to reach the World Cup with a minimum of 1,000 penalties taken on your teams’, if we wait for this concentration to think about penalties, you don’t have time “, commented Luis Henry at a press conference.
“I imagine most will have, because there will surely be a tie where we play them ,” he added.
The coach also said that after the daily training sessions in the concentration, shots are also practiced from 111 steps, since he considers that they are no longer a lottery , and that luck has nothing to do with the collection of shots.
“For me it is not a lottery, it is a moment of maximum tension where you have to demonstrate your qualities, and take the penalty in a certain way , and if you have trained it, surely the dynamics of the shot will be better. It is evident that the tension of the moment cannot be trained, but I think it is manageable and at that moment it is something that says a lot about each player, ”he declared.
