Rougned Odor hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 on Tuesday night.
Baltimore trailed 5-3 in the sixth inning when the game was halted 78 minutes by rain. The Orioles cut the deficit in half on Ryan Mouncastle’s RBI double in the seventh.
Odor homered off Yimi Garcia (1-4) to give the Orioles the lead one inning later.
Nick Vespi (4-0) struck out his only two opponents in the eighth, preventing the Blue Jays from expanding what was a one-touchdown lead.
Dominican Félix Bautista resolved the ninth episode and reached six saves.
For the Blue Jays, Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 4-0. The Dominicans Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 5-1 with a run scored, Raimel Tapia 4-0, Teoscar Hernández 1-0, Espinal 4-2. Mexican Alejandro Kirk 4-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
For the Orioles, Venezuelans Anthony Santander 3-2 with a run scored, Odor 4-2 with a run scored and two RBIs. The Mexican Ramón Urías 4-1. Dominican Jorge Mateo 4-0.
