The decisive moment arrives in the Masters 1,000 and in the WTA 1,000 of Indian Wells with the dispute of the quarterfinals of the individual male and female draws of the tournament. Eight tennis players in each draw must display their best tennis to stay alive in the tournament and continue on their way to win the title in the Californian desert.
Male box
The Spanish will go to the top of the table of these quarterfinals Carlos Alcaraz who defeated Gael Monfils in the round of 16, who had just won Medvedev (7-5 and 6-1 for the Spaniard) and who will face the reigning champion in the quarterfinals Cameron Norrie, who beat Jensn Brooksby 6-2, 6-4.
In the semifinals Alcaraz or Norrie could cross paths with Reef Nadal. The Spaniard continues his immaculate streak at the start of 2022 after defeating the American Reilly Opelka 7-6 (3) and 7-6 (5). Nadal will meet the Australian in the quarterfinals Nick Kyrgios, who after beating Casper Ruud in the third round, advanced to the quarter-finals after Jannik Sinner dropped out before their round of 16 match.
In the lower part of the table they will play the quarterfinals the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic who gave the surprise after winning in three sets the Italian Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 6-7 (5) and 6-4, and the American Taylor Fritz, who could with the Australian Alex de Miñaur by 3-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (5).
Kecmanovic or Fritz will meet in the semifinals with the winner of the last quarterfinal duel they will face to the Russian Andrey Rublev, who won 7-6 (5) and 6-4 against Hubert Hurkacz, and the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov who defeated American John Isner 6-3, 7-6 (6).
Female draw
In the women’s draw, we already have the first semifinal of the WTA 1,000 in Indian Wells defined. It will be played by the Romanian Simona Halep who swept Croatian Petra Martic by a double 6-1; and the Polish Iga Swiatek, who dominated the American Madison Keys 6-1 and 6-0.
The other semi-final will come from the two quarter-final matches that are played this Thursday. The Spanish Paula Badosa who comes from beating Leylah Fernández by a double 6-4, if mide with the rusa Veronika Kudermetova, who suffered to win Marketa Vondrousova in three sets (7-6 (5), 6-7 (5) and 7-5). In the last quarterfinal the faces of the Greek Maria Sakkari will be seen, what happened after Daria Saville retired when Sakkari was winning 4-1, and Kazakh Elena Rybakina which happened after beating Viktorija Golubic 7-6 (5) and 6-2.
