Fabio Pedretti, a 24-year-old Italian athlete, died of cardiac arrest while competing in the “Uno di Monticelli” night event, a 27-kilometer race in northern Italy, according to the organization of the competition on Sunday.

Pedretti died on the night of this Saturday, on his 24th birthday, due to a cardiac arrest suffered five kilometers from the finish line. He was rescued immediately and taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to save his life.
