Twitter will tentatively launch its blue symbol subscription feature next Friday, CEO Elon Musk said in a tweet, after delaying the launch earlier this week.

The social media platform will use different colored symbols for organizations and individuals, Musk said.

“Gold symbol for companies, gray symbol for Governments, blue for individuals (famous or not). Painful, but necessary,” Musk said in a tweet.

All verified accounts will be manually authenticated before verification kicks in, Musk said.

The company had paused its recently announced $8 blue symbol subscription service following the proliferation of fake accounts, saying the coveted subscription service would relaunch on November 29.

The coveted blue symbol was previously reserved for verified accounts of politicians, famous personalities, journalists, and other public figures.
