Government questions whether top model thinks it’s right to ignore deaths of Jewish babies in her own home

Israel has criticized Gigi Hadid after the model shared on social media a message critical of the country’s role in the conflict with Hamas.

“There is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians. Condemning the Israeli government is not anti-Semitic and supporting the Palestinians is not supporting Hamas,” the message said. Following the publication, the Israeli government’s account tagged the model and harshly criticized her.

“Were you asleep last week or do you think it’s right to ignore Jewish babies being massacred in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about your position,” wrote the government, which soon after published an image of children’s clothes and toys scattered on a floor full of blood. “If you don’t condemn this, your words mean nothing.”

On July 7, terrorists from the Hamas group carried out the worst attack on Israel in 50 years. The extremists broke through the barrier separating Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip and murdered hundreds of people indiscriminately, including Brazilians.

In response, the Israeli government has called up a record 300,000 reservists and is continuing its intense bombardment of Gaza. On Monday (16), the World Health Organization (WHO) warned of a “real catastrophe” in the Palestinian territory and said that Gaza only has 24 hours of water left.
