The recovery process was not easy: during the first six weeks he had 20 surgeries; there were several amputations; They even took skin from his scalp to graft it onto his hand. Then they put him in a prosthesis that he wears to this day. In all, Sarah spent three years in the hospital before resuming her life.

Sarah Barlondo turns to the wardrobe department to help her hide the prosthesis with an accessory or clothing.

“I returned to CEA, I worked, I graduated but I don’t think I came back the same, I was already a different person, I no longer had the same way of advancing in life. Now I understand why they told me that I had to take the time to heal. Then I went to New York to study acting, then I took a 5-year break and studied Architecture ”.

And just studying that career was that he realized that there is not much accessibility for people who are missing one or more members. Now, in addition to continuing her work as an actress, Sarah wants to raise awareness about these types of circumstances, which can happen to anyone; That is why he decided to tell the world about his condition.

He did so on the set of Wonder Woman 1984 where they treated her like one of the cast and where they made her feel comfortable and safe.

“Wonder Woman was a huge step on a personal level. That project gave me faith in the environment, an energy to continue. I shared my disability with the principal (Patty Jenkins) and she supported me. They showed that adjusting things is no problem on set and I felt comfortable. But in these 10 years I lost jobs due to my disability. Not everyone supports you, the human being is sometimes very cruel.

“My prosthetic hand is not functional, it is only aesthetic. I wear it like a glove. If I do not share it in general, they do not realize it, but if I have to open a door, a bottle or wave with the right hand I cannot do it. But my last projects did well for me; I need support with my partners on the stage, I always have to tell them, especially if there are physical things and we adapt, “said the actress.

“I took this step a couple of months ago, my partner, my team, my family supported me: I told them: ‘If I am going to burn and if they no longer speak to me to work because they already know that I have a disability, no way.’ But I have to do it, I have to talk about this. It is a necessity, “he concluded.
