Colombian actress Alejandra Villafane diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancer five months ago
Colombian actress Alejandra Villafañe died at the age of 34 last Saturday (21). Former Miss Earth Colombia, Alejandra was known for her roles in Netflix productions, and suffered from breast and ovarian cancer. The information was confirmed by the actress’s boyfriend, fellow actor Raúl Ocampo.
Alejandra was diagnosed with the disease on May 12 this year and shared the news on social media shortly afterwards. “One day I was told that I had a miracle in my breast, a miracle in my other breast and a very big miracle in my right ovary. Yes, I prefer to call them miracles, teachers or some not-so-welcome friends,” she posted at the time.
The actress underwent two surgeries after her diagnosis and began chemotherapy in September. On social media, Alejandra shared her reflections on the treatment. “In the midst of so much uncertainty, I chose to put on a good face and receive chemotherapy with love. Not to mention that it was the most challenging and devastating ordeal. It’s a very expensive transaction.”
Known for his work in “Narcos” and “Café con Aroma de Mujer”, actor Raúl Ocampo posted tributes to the actress on Instagram. “I want you to know that it’s forever,” he wrote in the caption of a series of photos of when Alejandra chose to shave her head during treatment. On the social network, Raúl also recalled other moments with his girlfriend.
A memorial service for the actress will be held on Monday 23rd in a church in Mexico City. No information has been released about the artist’s burial.

Born in Zarzal, Colombia, María Alejandra Villafañe Osorio turned 34 on October 8th. Alejandra’s career began in beauty contests in 2013. The following year, she won Miss World Colombia and represented the country at Miss World, placing among the semi-finalists in the competition.
Alejandra began her career in acting in television productions such as “Desconectados” and “La nieta elegida”. The artist has also appeared in “Sempre Bruxa” and “Perfil Falso”, Netflix productions; “De Burras, Nada”, Prime Video; and “No Fue Mi Culpa: Colombia”, Star+.
