Neither Queen Elizabeth II nor her husband, Prince Philip, were part of the conversations expressing concern about how dark the skin would be for their great-grandson, Archie, the child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Oprah Winfrey said Monday.
In an interview with the American television star on Sunday, the couple accused the British royal family of worrying about Archie’s skin tone before his birth. Markle is African-American and the first mixed-race person to marry a member of the royal family.
Harry declined to reveal who had raised the concerns, said Winfrey to CBS on Monday, but “He wanted to make sure that I knew, and if I had the opportunity, I would share it, that it was not his grandmother or grandfather who were part of those conversations.”
