Meat Loaf, the rock star behind the successful ‘Bat Out of Hell’ trilogy of albums, one of the best-selling albums in music history, has died at the age of 74, as announced by his Facebook account and confirmed by his representative to The Hollywood Reporter.
Loaf, whose real name is Michael Lee Aday, was one of the most successful and recognizable artists on the music scene and his death leaves a huge void.
“Our hearts are broken announcing that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends”, reads the statement published on his social network profile in which his long career is also reviewed.
And it is that Meat Loaf has been active for almost six decades and has managed to sell more than 100 million records worldwide. In fact, his record ‘Bat Out of Hell’ continues to sell hundreds of thousands of copies each year and it is one of the 10 best-selling albums of all time.
“We know how much it meant to so many of you and we really appreciate all the love and support. as we go through this time of grief over the loss of such an inspiring artist and such a beautiful man. We appreciate your understanding of our need for privacy at this time. From your heart to your souls, never stop rocking!”, settles the statement that has fallen like a jug of cold water.
And it is that in addition to his prolific musical career, Meat Loaf has also achieved considerable success in his acting journey with 65 films in his filmography and participating in films like El club de la lucha, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Wayne’s World. So far the cause of his death has not been revealed.
