Despite this headline, Julian Contreras has a lot to celebrate today. The brother of Francisco and Cayetano Rivera returns to public life with the publication of his first novel, in which he has been working since the pandemic began.

An erotic-themed trilogy whose first part will see the light, if all goes according to plan, next November And that can be purchased on Amazon, both the print and digital edition.

But the truth is that this new and exciting adventure has not been a bed of roses for him. The publishers have not made it easy for them to buy the story because the author is a man.

This is how Contreras himself tells ‘La Razón’: “In an editorial they told me that it is that they only publish women and that in my novel the female version of the author was missing, and I told him that it was a shame that I was not a woman and that he did not publish it for me because I was a man, because I would live my whole life from this scandal. I hallucinated”, he began by saying somewhat indignantly.

In the end, everyone here is very progressive and modern, but when you carry a book that addresses the subject in a more explicit way, it seems that we are in the Spain of 1972″, he slides.

Despite having tried with other publishers, the response has been negative and the understanding between author and publisher, nonexistent:

“In another publisher they told me that they were only publishing romance novels, and that is that mine is romantic and a love story, but narrated with another intonation and with another style. There was another one I contacted who gave me a date for 2024.”

Faced with this obvious problem, Julián has assumed that times have changed, and that is why he has decided to be the one who carries out the entire editing, layout and illustration process, with all the expenses that this entails.

Despite this reality, the protagonist does not lose the illusion and the desire to see the light of this novel in which he has been overturned for so long, and although he has not wanted to go into detail if the content is biographical, he has given some brushstrokes on what that readers will be able to find when they get their copy:

“People will be able to read a highly musicalized love story that takes place during a summer week. One thing that was quite complex for me is that the protagonist has no identity, he has no name, but you become familiar with him. It is an intense work and it is not recommended for all audiences”, he assures.

The truth is that this novel is not the only priority in the life of Julián Contreras. After almost two years ‘unemployed’, finally recovered his public relations job at ‘Bingo Copacabana’, games room located in Móstoles (Madrid).

There he was working for a while before “the pandemic took almost two years of his life”, as the protagonist assures.
