Jackie Avant , the wife of the legendary music executive Clarence Avant, has died at the age of 81 by a gunshot during a robbery at a house in Beverly Hills, last Tuesday night, as reported by the digital magazine The Hollywood Reporter (THR) .
Nicole Avant , daughter of Jackie and Clarence, is married to Netflix Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos . A Netflix spokesperson confirmed the news to THR magazine, adding that Clarence was not injured.[lwptoc]
Cause of death of Jacqueline Avant
According to documents provided to the magazine by the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPL), the police communication center received a call around 2:23 a.m. in which it was reported that a shooting that had just occurred in the 1100 block of Maytor Place. When they arrived, they discovered a victim with a gunshot wound . Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, although she was unable to survive . The report, where Jackie is not listed as the victim, confirms that the suspect (s) were no longer near the crime scene when the police arrived. The BHPL is conducting an investigation with Police Chief Mark G. Stainbrook, intending to hold a briefing to provide more details as soon as possible.
“The City of Beverly Hills and its Police Department offer our sincere condolences to the family of the victim,” said Lt. Giovanni Trejo of the Police Department.

Clarence, 90, is known as “the Godfather of black music ” and is a leading negotiator and Grammy Award-winning CEO who has advised and helped launch careers of many artists from the world of music and entertainment. In the 2019 documentary, Netflix’s ‘The Black Godfather ‘, his life and legacy was showcased. This documentary was produced by his daughter Nicole and explored how Avant championed impressive deals for black talent through the narratives of Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Snoop Dogg and many more.

Additionally, she served as President of Watts Neighbors , a support group for the South Central Community Child Care Center and Recreational Chair of the NOW Benefit Auction and NOW Membership . He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the University of California, Los Angeles International Student Center.
In an interview for the Netflix documentary, her daughter Nicole described her as a passionate person who fostered her love for the arts : “My mother was really the one who brought the love, passion and importance of art, culture to the family. and entertainment, “he explained. “While my father was involved in this, making all the deals, it was my mother who gave me, for example, the love I have for literature, for cinema and for storytelling.”
