Taylor Hawkins, drummer of the rock band Foo Fighters passed away, according to a message posted Friday on the group’s verified Twitter account.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with all of us forever,” the group wrote.

“Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect at this unimaginably difficult time.”

It is unclear how Hawkins died.

Hailing from Washington State, known for songs like “The Pretender” and “Best of You,” the Foo Fighters have had 4 Billboard #1 hits.
