Eight members of the legendary salsa orchestra El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico were infected with COVID-19, absent from the Fair in Cali, Colombia, which starts this Saturday and ends on December 30.

“Merry Christmas. We want to thank all those who have wished us health and those who direct their prayers towards us. We are already experiencing this COVID-19 that affected 8 of our musicians and did not allow us to reach the Cali fair”, published the group on their Instagram account.

“We send a big hug to all our Colombian brothers and soon we will be again bringing our music to them”, continued saying the orchestra in said social account.

Therefore, they announced that next January they will be presented in the Colombian cities of Manizales, Santa Marta and Cartagena “If the Almighty allows it”.

“See you there!” said the group, which is expected to appear on December 31 at the end of the year celebration organized by the Government of Puerto Rico in the San Juan Convention District.

El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, nominated for a Grammy this year for its album “En Cuarentena”, recently presented its new production, “De trulla con El Combo”, its first Christmas album in more than 35 years.

The new album, released under the Rimas label, contains ten songs with humorous, social and partying themes typical of the Christmas season in Puerto Rico.

It is the first Christmas album since “La Fiesta de Pilito” (1985) and the third in the history of the orchestra, which soon turns 60 years of career.
