Cristiano Ronaldo has already released the Cadillac Escalade that Georgina Rodríguez gave him on February 5 to celebrate the Portuguese footballer’s birthday . The Manchester United striker , who has just turned 37 and is going to be a father again (Georgina is pregnant with twins ), attended his team’s training session on Monday driving the impressive luxury SUV , imported directly from the United States and valued at more than 150,000 euros .
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Cadillac Escalade
Cristiano’s new car is an impressive ‘van’ (as they are called in the United States) that measures almost five and a half meters long (5,382 mm exactly), more than two meters wide (2,059 mm) and 1.9 high (1,948mm). It is the short wheelbase version of the Escalade, so it has a wheelbase of more than 3 meters (3,071 mm). This gives you ample interior space with three rows of seats and a total of seven seats (two in the second row and three in the third).
Georgina’s gift to Cristiano
In addition, Cristiano’s new car has a 722-litre boot with the third row of seats folded down, expandable to 1,784 liters with the last row folded down or 3,089 liters with the second row also folded down. There is another version with a long wheelbase and 40 cm more in total length that has a 1,214-litre trunk expandable to 3,585, but the ‘normal’ version of the Escalade is more than enough to transport the large family of Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez ( four children with two more on the way ).
Spacious and modern cabin
In addition to being spacious, the cabin stands out for the abundance of high-definition digital surfaces , starting with the three OLED screens that cover much of the dashboard. Together they add up to 36 inches . The one on the left ( 7.2″ ) is used for configuring the on-board computer and the ‘head-up display’. The central one ( 14.2″ ), for the instrumentation and the one on the right ( 16, 9″ ), for the multimedia system. On the backs of the front seats there are two other screens (optional) for the entertainment of the rear passengers.
Power and performance
The Escalade is powered by an impressive 6.2-litre V8 engine that develops an output of 420PS and peak torque of 623Nm . The engine is associated with a 10-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission that transmits power to all four wheels permanently (the standard wheels , by the way, are 22 “ ).
The benefits , of course, are at the height of a vehicle with a V8 engine ( from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 200 km/h), although the negative part is the high fuel consumption ( more than 14 l/100 km in combined cycle and about 18 l/100 km in urban use). Although surely that is not a problem for Cristiano Ronaldo, with an estimated fortune of more than 1,000 million dollars between accumulated salary, real estate, business and advertising income.
Diesel version for Europe
Cadillac has just launched a diesel version of the Escalade specially designed for the European market. This new variant, which we have already been able to test , is powered by a 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine that develops a power of 277 hp and a maximum torque of 623 Nm . Although the performance of the diesel version is more modest ( 9.0 seconds in 0-100 km/h), consumption is also much more moderate : from 11.8 l/100 km in the city to 9.1 on the highway.
