Chrissy Teigen and John Legend announce they have become parents for the fourth time via surrogacy
It was a complete surprise, because no one expected this move by one of the most admired and loved couples among the American jet set. But three children, born naturally, were not enough, and John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have just announced that a fourth baby has arrived in their lives and that it has done so through a surrogate.
The 37-year-old model and influencer and the 44-year-old singer have broken the news through social networks, showing the new member of their family, whom they have named Wren Alexander Stephens, who arrives just seven months after Teigen gave birth to a girl, named Esti Maxine, and creating controversy for the last picture with which she has revealed the news.
“For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to have four children,” begins the celebrity in a long text in which she has shared the family’s path to reach this decision, adding that, in that childhood, whenever she played she did it with 4 dolls, watching the series Alf and giving them the same amount of kisses to all those toys so they would not be jealous.
Next, Teigen has talked about the miscarriage she experienced in September 2020, when she lost a son, to whom they had already given a name, Jack, and whose ashes, she revealed, always travel with her and her family. “After losing Jack, I thought I wouldn’t be able to have any more babies on my own. Honestly, I blanked my mind that whole time: my only memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain alone again,” she writes.
She then described the process of surrogacy, which began in 2021, when they spoke to an agency, which proposed having two at a time, to reach the four she wanted. In the meantime, she recounts, she talked with her husband to try one last pregnancy using the same technique they already used for Luna and Miles, their first two children, born in 2016 and 2018 through in vitro fertilization.
It worked and then Esti arrived. According to Chrissy Teigen, everything changed when they met Alexandra, whom she defines as “the most incredible, loving and compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine” and who has finally been the woman who gave birth to little Wren.
“All of our desires and dreams were alienated. I wanted to be her friend, for our children to play together, to have dinner together, I wanted to lay my head on her belly button and feel the baby’s little kicks. For her to be in our lives as much as time would allow,” adds Teigen.
The model goes on to explain that the first embryo didn’t survive inside Alexandra and they tried again with the second, detailing “how much of her body” she put into it for them, from “scars” to “the mental toll.” Just as Chrissy was reaching the safe zone of her pregnancy, the second attempt worked.
Finally, last June 19, she gave birth to “the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate.” “We want to thank you for this gift, Alexandra. And we are so happy to tell the world that she is here, with a name that will always connect with you, Wren Alexander Stephens”, she ends, but not before affirming that their hearts and their home “are full”, and sending kisses to “her angel” Jack.
In addition to the love received and the compliments of many followers, other users of the networks have been ojipláticos with the idea of Teigen and Legend to try to pass for emotional and romantic “how horrible it is to buy a belly just to hold on to ‘your dream of having 4 children'” or even to do everything to thank Alexandra for her work, including the photograph or the name.
