The president of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has tested positive for COVID-19, the day after participating without a mask in an event at the White House with President Joe Biden.
Pelosi is currently asymptomatic, her spokesman Drew Hammill tweeted. He said that days before she had tested negative.

“The Speaker (of the House) has had her shots and booster, and she appreciates the strong protection the shot has given her,” Hammill said.

Pelosi “will observe the quarantine in accordance with the guidance of the health centers and encourages everyone to receive the vaccine, the booster and to be tested regularly,” he added.

The 82-year-old Democratic leader’s announcement came ahead of her weekly news conference on Capitol Hill. The chamber will soon begin its two-week spring break.
