On the day of the assault on Capitol Hill, Democrat Nancy Pelosi expressed her desire to hit the former president and explained why during an interview where she also reiterated that Trump is characterized by changing the rules if they do not favor him.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has revealed why she didn’t stand up to Donald Trump, threatening that she would beat him up if she tried to enter Capitol Hill on January 6 last year.

“He wouldn’t have had the courage to come to Hill,” she said this week on MSNBC. “He’s all talk.”

A few days ago, some behind-the-scenes footage from the day of the Capitol assault was released, in which the Democrat is seen receiving the news that the Secret Service had rejected the former president’s plan to join the crowd and march to the Capitol. But, they said, that could change.

“I hope he comes. I’m going to hit him,” Pelosi is seen saying in the video. “I’ve been waiting for this. For trespassing on the Capitol grounds. I’m going to punch him. And I’m going to jail and I’m going to be happy,” she added.

These images support the testimony of Trump White House official Cassidy Hutchinson, who told the committee on January 6 that Trump tried to force his security team to take him to Capitol Hill, but was rebuffed.

The video was captured by Alexandra Pelosi, a documentary filmmaker and daughter of the Democratic Speaker of the House.

On Tuesday, Trump called Nancy Pelosi a “despicable person” in response to the revelation.

In her recent talk on MSNBC, Pelosi indicated that she did not like to talk about the tycoon “because it is really a tragedy for our country.” But, she was worried about the big picture.

“Our democracy is at stake when you define democracy as the integrity of the vote,” she said.

“They want to suppress the vote. They have been doing it for a long time. They want to nullify the results of an election. They are even proposing that after an election, if they don’t like the results, they will retroactively change the rules that would have governed that election. So we have to recognize that they are undermining our democracy.”
