China imposed sanctions against more than two dozen senior officials of the government of former US President Donald Trump for violating his “sovereignty”, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among them stands out the now former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.
“China has decided to sanction 28 people who have seriously violated its sovereignty,” the portfolio reported, practically in parallel to the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the North American country.
In addition to Pompeo, others sanctioned are: who was Trump’s commercial adviser, Peter Navarro, the National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, the Under Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, David Stilwell, the Secretary of Health Alex Azar and the one sent to the UN, Kelly Craft. Beijing also sanctioned Trump’s former national security adviser, John Bolton, and another former advisor, Stephen Bannon.
Consequently, former officials and members of their immediate family they will be banned from entering mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. “They and the companies and institutions associated with them will see their ability to do business with China restricted”Added the portfolio led by Wang Yi.
Just as China imposed the measures at the time when those reached were no longer federal government officials, Pompeo had carried out a similar action against the Asian giant on his last full day at the head of the State department: accused him of committing “genocide and crimes against humanity” against the Uighur Muslim minority.
It was the first time that a country described in this way the actions of the Beijing regime in the western region of Xinjiang and that includes the construction of massive concentration camps where, according to numerous reports, members of this ethnic and religious group are forced to renounce their beliefs and used as slave labor.
“After careful examination of the information available, I have determined that at least since March 2017, The People’s Republic of China, under the leadership and control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), has committed crimes against humanity against the Uyghurs – who are predominantly Muslim – and other members of ethnic and religious minorities in Xinjiang, “Pompeo said in a statement before leaving his post.
Pompeo also said that the shares constitute a genocide and an affront “against the civilized nations of the world” and that China and the CCP must be held accountable.
