The Cannes Film Festival, which was completely canceled last year due to the pandemic, will postpone this year’s edition from May to July 2021 in the hope that it can be in-person.

Cannes organizers announced Wednesday that this year’s festival will run from July 6 to 17, about two months after its normal run. The French Riviera festival, which has been running non-stop for nearly 75 years, hopes the pandemic subsides enough for the summer.

Last year Cannes contemplated postponing its 73rd edition to June or July, but ended up canceling it. However, he made an announcement of his selection to celebrate the films he planned to include in his prestigious showing.

This year the organizers intend to carry out the festival at any cost. At the moment no details were announced about the format of the 2021 edition.
