“We stand with Israel and we will ensure that they can take care of their citizens and defend themselves against this attack. There is no justification for terrorism,” said Biden.
“We are making sure that the [Israeli] military services have the necessary equipment to maintain the Iron Dome and that Israel is not left without its assets to defend its citizens,” he added.
In a message to Iran and other terrorist groups that might join Hamas, Biden said that the US has already mobilized its forces in the eastern Mediterranean Sea and is “ready to move additional assets if necessary”.
Amid pressure from the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump, who accuse him of having been weak on Iran and of not having treated the conflict in Israel as a priority, Biden said that “this is no time for partisan politics” and recalled that at least 14 Americans were killed in Hamas terrorist attacks.
