A New York City bus hung from an elevated after crashing on the Cross-Bronx Freeway, reported the New York Emergency Management (CLICK) this Thursday night.

The MTA bus driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off a Bronx overpass in an accident that left at least nine people injuredauthorities said.

The council member from New York, Mark D Levine wrote on Twitter that emergency services had cordoned off the area in response to the incident. The agency CLICK reported that the bus collision had occurred in the Cross-Bronx freeway and University Avenue area and urged people to avoid traveling through the area.

Images of the bus hanging posted on social media showed the vehicle splitting up, with the front of the bus balanced on the road below while the rear of the transport remained on the elevated above. It was not clear how many people were on the bus and it has not been reported so far if there are people injured.

The local environment NBC He said the fire department had confirmed that there were multiple units on the scene, but that the number of injuries was unknown.

In the heartbreaking incident, the driver of the Bx35 bus was attempting to turn left on University Avenue onto a ramp to the Washington Bridge, according to sources from the MTA.

But the driver veered off the track, causing the bus to crash onto the causeway.

The front of the bus landed on its front windshield at part of the crossing of the Bronx Expressway, while the rear remained grounded on University Avenue.
