Sports Writing, 12 Feb. South African Ockie Strydom completed the “perfect” final round, with nine clear “birdies”, for a 63-stroke card that allowed him to win the Singapore tournament with 19 strokes under par.

Spaniard Alejandro del Rey, who came out on top on the final round, started his round like a bang with three ‘birdies’ in the first three holes, until a ‘double bogey’ on hole 6 stopped his projection, finishing with 71 strokes per round and third in the tournament with -15 strokes, his best ranking in his first year on the DP World Tour (European Circuit).

For Strydom, this is the second victory on the circuit after that obtained on December 11 at the Alfred Dunhill tournament.

After the South African, Finland’s Sami Valimaki took second place with 18 under par. Alongside Del Rey and also in third place were Germany’s Marcel Schneider and South Korea’s Jeunghun Wang.

The other two Spaniards who made the cut, Adrián Otaegui and Santiago Tarrió, found themselves far behind, the first in 30th place and the second in 58th. EFE
