You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have bright, fresh skin and keep it that way all year long. Using the right skin care regimen and following these New Year’s resolutions for your skin is a cheap, safe, and most effective way to achieve your goals.

1. Find your skin type

Before you revamp your skincare regimen this New Year, you need to know what skin type you have. In this way, you can choose the products that will be good for your particular skin barriers and avoid products that could worsen existing conditions such as dryness, redness or dark spots.

2. Use a retinoid

Almost all skin types can benefit from the use of a retinoid. However, you do have to gradually introduce your skin to a retinoid when you start using one, and your retinoid regimen should be compatible with your skin type.

3. Use an SPF 15 daily on your face.

Protect your skin from sun damage by applying a sunscreen every morning. You can use a smoky SPF instead of makeup if you prefer a natural look. Men can wear it too!

4. Consider using a new anti-aging cream.

There are many anti-aging creams on the market, and it can be hard to tell which one is worth buying. However, there is a new anti-aging serum called Plated™, which uses state-of-the-art technology to eliminate lines and wrinkles. You can look up the interview I did with the doctor who invented this product for more information.

5. Try injectable wrinkle treatments

Experts say that injectable products like fillers and botulinum toxins (Botox) not only eliminate wrinkles, but also prevent fine lines and wrinkles from appearing on your skin in the future.

6. Consider intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting has been shown to activate the “cleansing” natural cellular process called autophagy, which can help your skin look and feel youthful and radiant, while imparting many benefits to your health.

7. Reduce sugar in your diet

Sugar can speed up the aging process and also lead to skin conditions like acne. Try increasing your intake of foods like broccoli, cauliflower, and bok choy for naturally healthy-looking skin.

8. Exercise regularly

Try to do at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. This will give many benefits not only to your skin, but also to your mind and body.

9. Do something to de-stress once a day

Stress is another major cause of premature aging. Meditate, do yoga, read a book, or do something to calm yourself down at least once a day to help reduce stress.

10. Sleep the necessary hours

Getting at least seven hours of good quality sleep is vital for overall health and the appearance of the skin.

All of these skincare resolutions help prevent and even reverse skin aging, and most are cheap and easy to fit into your daily routine.

Remember that consistency matters. After you start a new skin care regimen, you should use it day after day. It might take 8-12 weeks to see results, but your skin will continue to improve over time.
