A neighbour, who lived next door to the couple for 48 years, said:
“They were two souls that God had commanded to do well and they were fantastic.”
In a broken voice, this man was trying to find the words to understand why his friends, an elderly man and woman, are at the center of an investigation into an attempted murder-suicide which shook the neighborhood of Hialeah.

According to this neighbor, the deceased man was called Argelio, who would soon be 90 years old, and his wife Onelia. He says he lived next to this couple for 48 years. Today he couldn’t hide his devastation at the news.

According to the municipal police, the incident occurred around 3:12 p.m. in this residence located at 902 East 14th Place. Officers arrived at the scene in reference to a shooting and found the two elderly men there with gunshot wounds.
Dilean Barroso, a neighbor of the couple, said: “I heard a single shot and then a noise like that.”
Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
Juan Chávez, neighbor of the couple for 18 years, assures:
“Once in a while they gave him my correspondence, they gave it to him and he came to bring it to me, very cool people.”
This young man who knew them says the two were great friends, but last week something set off the alarm.
“The only thing we saw that was strange is that a week ago a suicide prevention car came to park here, we know that the old lady was sick and she is going away occupied,” explains Barroso.
