A person was arrested in connection with arson on Friday after a burning shopping cart was pushed into the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Station in the South Los Angeles area.

The 30-year-old woman was arrested and charged with the arson and was being held on $250,000 bond, the LAPD reported.

“Due to an arson attack last night, Southwest Main Lobby operations will be closed indefinitely. Community members who wish to meet an officer or detective in person may visit any local station,” tweeted the LAPD Southwest Division.

The flames damaged the building, but no injuries were reported, authorities said. The shooting occurred in the 1500 block of West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 11:25 p.m. Thursday in the South Los Angeles area.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call 877-LAPD-247 (5273).
