NEW YORK — The New York Police Department opened an investigation Friday after a man was fatally stabbed following a noise complaint in the Bronx.

Police responded to a 911 call around 1:44 a.m. which alerted them to the stabbing. The incident took place inside 808 Elsmere Place in the Crotona section of the county.

Once at the scene, officers found the victim, identified as 27-year-old Tyquan Pleasant, unconscious. He was stabbed in the back and found lying on the ground outside a second-floor apartment, authorities said.

Emergency medical services transported the victim to Saint-Barnabé Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police recovered a knife from the scene during the ongoing investigation.

Officers arrested Shaun Pyles, 25, a woman who was taken into custody at the scene. She faces multiple charges including murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to New York City data, more than 730,000 noise complaints were filed in 2022 alone. Bronx County tops the list with more than 240,000, followed by Manhattan with nearly 185,000.
