Although John Wick 4 received rave reviews, John Wick 5 has yet to get the green light. While it’s often a trend to announce multiple sequels at the same time, as happened with Fast and Furious 10 and 11, Lionsgate didn’t follow this strategy. Although at the time John Wick 5 was approved and was going to be filmed alongside Chapter 4, the studio canceled that plan. At this moment, where is the fifth part of the saga?
How likely are we to see John Wick 5?
Although it is not impossible, John Wick 4 is highly unlikely to fail at the box office and is expected to be the biggest hit of the entire franchise. This is reinforced by the incredible reception it received from critics, with a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series is so popular that it would be unbelievable if Lionsgate dropped it.
On the other hand, John Wick 4 seems to be closing. At least that indicates its length and the quality of its action scenes. Maybe Lionsgate will fire the Keanu Reeves character and move on to expanding the John Wick universe in other directions. During an interview to promote John Wick 4, Keanu Reeves explained that the fifth installment in the saga is not something that should be taken for granted. What does Chad Stahelski think of John Wick 5?
Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick franchise, has already made it clear in advance that Chapter 4 will be the last he will direct. Even so, it’s possible the franchise will continue with a new director, as has happened with many other famous sagas. Either way, Stahelski’s absence could mean a drop in quality, since John Wick’s action sequences wouldn’t have been the same without him.
