Two women died early Thursday after being ejected from a car in a crash on the southbound 110 Freeway in south Los Angeles.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were called to the freeway area near the Gage Avenue exit at 1:40 a.m., where they found the vehicle on its side, CHP officer Patrick Kimball said. at the City News Service.

According to reports from the scene, the car crashed into a freeway embankment before flipping onto its side.

The victims died on the spot.

Details on the cause of the accident were not immediately available.

The accident closed several lanes of the freeway for hours while the CHP conducted its investigation. One of the lanes was reopened around 5 a.m.
