Polls in Michigan’s gubernatorial race show Democratic incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer leading Republican challenger Tudor Dixon as former President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit the state for a campaign rally on Saturday.

Trump is expected to endorse Dixon, as well as Michigan Republican candidates for Secretary of State Kristina Karamo and Attorney General Matthew DePerno, who have been endorsed by the former president and will speak at the event.

FiveThirtyEight, which collects and analyzes polls, shows Whitmer with a 12-point lead in the race. His overall polling average is 51.6 percent compared to Dixon’s 40 percent.

The incumbent governor had the support of 55 percent of voters, while Dixon had the backing of 39 percent. Recent polls also show Democrats leading Republican candidates in the Michigan attorney general and secretary of state races.
