The anime from the hand of Kyoto Animation has concluded a second season full of the technical marvels that characterize them
Animation of Kyoto It has always been, to me, one of the studios that deserves the most respect in the entire anime industry. It’s one that’s never been tainted by the shadow of exploitation and has an MO that makes it work like a charm as a business, but also makes it a studio with a distinctive aesthetic. “Tsurune” is one of its most recent great exponents, and with Season 2 over, I wonder if we’ll get a Season 3 at some point.
How is it going for there to be a season 3 of the Tsurune anime

- To begin with, although it may seem otherwise, Tsurune is actually an adaptation of Kyoto Animation.. This means that it is NOT an original anime from the studio, but is really about a series of light novels.
- How many volumes of the light novel have been released so far? Well, unlike other anime that have a large number of volumes that result in long-term content, the reality is that Tsurune THERE ARE ONLY 3 VOLUMES. The most recent was published on August 19, 2022.
- At first, I find it already shocking that Kyoto Animation was able to extract up to 2 seasons of content from so little light novel material… but it’s even more so when it’s really what was adapted in 2 seasons was only the content of Tsurune’s first 2 novels.
- This last point has 2 different readings very positive:
- In the first place, speaks in favor of the Kyoto Animation agreement regarding Tsurune. If we watch the anime, we already realize the care and the care with which the adaptation is worked, but knowing the little material available gives even more volume to the final result.
- Second, if there are 2 anime seasons for the first 2 volumes of the light novel, the reality is that there’s no reason to think there can’t be a Tsurune anime season 3 precisely adapting the third light novel.
- I have no idea when Kyoto Animation’s announcement of Tsurune season 3 will take place, since at the end of the years have passed between the first and the second (although it is true that there is had the arson involved). However, I’m very confident that it will eventually happen sooner or later.
And for the most curious, I will only say that indeed the story of “Tsurune” Continues With All Kazemai Members Being Sophomores Now. Also, it looks like there will be many new faces in the Kyudo club following the great performance they had in the national championship. If the idea is to complete Minato’s entire career as a high school student, it seems even more obvious to me that “Tsurune” will be an anime with several more seasons.
