The kitchen is, along with the bathrooms, the cleanest place in the house. Especially the areas that are most in contact with food, such as the freezer or the refrigerator . The latter, due to its use, is easier to detect when it needs to be cleaned in depth; however, the freezer is forgotten and over time it can become a nightmare full of bad smells and impossible stains. Twice a year is the minimum that we should dedicate to thoroughly cleaning this appliance and to make it easier and faster for you, we will give you a series of tips below. Stay with them!

First of all, empty your freezer

To be able to thoroughly clean the freezer, the first step to follow is to empty it and get rid of all those foods that have been stored for a long time and that may be expired. Those products that you are going to keep, put them in the fridge until you finish cleaning. Then defrost the drawers with a hot water rag to remove frost and food stains. Once it is ready, place everything in an orderly manner. Organization is the key to maintaining proper cleanliness.

Clean gums with toothpaste

Toothpaste will be your best ally to wash the rubber seals in the freezer. To do this, you will only need a cup of water, an old toothbrush and toothpaste. Wet the rubbers with a rag and rub the entire surface of the joint. Once you’re done, clean up any leftover toothpaste and if it’s really dirty or moldy, you should use disinfectant products to remove any black stains before you start your regular cleaning.

Dish soap, a good alternative

Clean your freezer with dish soap; Fill a container with hot water and a minimal amount of soap. Dip a rag or sponge into the mixture and wipe down the inside. The temperature of the water will help you thaw the frost and the soap will do its thing to degrease. This way of cleaning is quite fast and is perfect for keeping the freezer always clean and smelling good.

Vinegar can be your best friend

If your freezer is a little dirtier than you’d expect and soap isn’t enough to remove all the stains, use vinegar instead. In a spray bottle mix equal parts vinegar and hot water , spray the inside of the freezer generously and rub with a dry microfiber cloth. You may have to repeat this step several times to get your freezer 100% clean. Finally, dry the inside with a clean cloth and make sure you don’t leave any traces of liquid.

Another powerful friend: baking soda

Like vinegar, baking soda is a great ally in cleaning . The result will be just as satisfying. You need to mix two to three tablespoons of baking soda , depending on the size of the freezer, with a little hot water. Then, dip a damp cloth in the mixture and clean the inside of the appliance. When you finish, dry it well and replace the drawers and the rest of the accessories. If you end up opting for this product, remember that it is convenient to wait about 20 minutes before putting the food back in the freezer.
