Police are looking for a suspect who shot a Miami Dade detective. The officer was conducting a narcotics investigation arresting a subject when another came from behind and shot him.
The shot provoked an impressive police parade. In the air, the police have been searching for the shooter for hours
Miami-Dade Police Superintendent Alfredo Ramirez says, “The subject who fired the gun ran off, he’s black.”
For more than 5 hours, they closed 39th to 46th Streets and Second to Sixth Avenues in northwest Miami, that area next to the Design District and north of Wynwood.
Tonight the search with all kinds of tactical equipment continues and the police are asking “the community, if they have any information about it, let them give it, because if it protects it, it will go to prison “.
Injured policeman acquitted
Miami Dade Police Chief Freddy Ramirez said, “Thank God he’ll be fine, but the incident happened. They attacked my officer and it doesn’t stay that way.”
Partly comforted but also outraged, the Miami-Dade police chief expressed determination to find the person responsible for the latest incident in which a county agency officer was injured.
“I will use all the resources of this department and those of other agencies that help us, like the Miami City Police to bring justice, because this person can hurt someone innocent,” Ramírez says.
In front of the press, Ramírez argued the reason for his indignation.
“I’m tired of being here. There have already been four times in the last year in this hospital officers injured by subjects who do not believe in anyone, ”explains Ramírez.
The Chief of Police refers to these 4 incidents.
On December 5, 2022, a Miami-Dade police officer was hospitalized after sustaining facial injuries in a shooting in the area of Northwest 67th Avenue and Miami Gardens Drive.
Gabriel Góngora, 20, faced one count of attempted murder in this incident.
On November 5, 2022, Officer Damián Colón was left in critical condition after being shot by his ex-partner, Jessenia Hernández, a former Miami-Dade high school police officer, who was charged with intense murder.
On August 22, 2022, two Miami-Dade police officers were hospitalized after being stabbed, in an incident involving a man who carried the knife.
Perhaps the most memorable of these unfortunate incidents in which South Florida police officers were injured was the one that resulted in the death of Constable Cesar Echaverry, 29, known as “Echy”, who was injured on August 15. during a confrontation with an armed robbery suspect in Miami.
Echaverry died two days later in hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
And similarly for the person responsible for this Thursday’s incident, or similar ones that may occur in the future, the police have a strong message.
“I want to warn you that we are not going to stop and take you to jail,” Ramírez says.
