This Tuesday, the Miami Dade commission voted in favor of the deal with a software company that will pay $117 million for naming rights.

In the 1990s, the Miami Heat negotiated a deal with American Airlines, which in 2018 renewed the county. These images are from 2021, when cryptocurrency company FTX became the new sponsor and so there was a name change. At that time, Commissioner René García voted against. He had his doubts.
The contract was for 17 years. But at the end of 2022, FTX filed for bankruptcy. According to Levine Cava, with Kaseya, a Miami-based company, the same shouldn’t happen.
“It’s a solid business. She is growing, doing things very well, and her prestige gives us a lot of security”.
A portion of the money from this settlement will be used for programs to reduce gun violence.
“We are investing in cameras that are in businesses and in neighborhoods, connected to police, among other programs.”
For these tourists, initiatives like this will make Miami a safer city.
