With the arrival of the brand new part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, named “The JoJoLands» and presented as part of part 9 of the famous series by Hirohiko Araki, we finally see more clearly what this new story will be about. In the first chapter, several characters are already introduced beyond the protagonist, and in addition some important details inherent in them are also revealed to us.

Indeed, Araki shows us right away some stands that will appear in the next chapters, starting with that of the protagonist Jodio Joestar and his brother Dragona Joestar. As with the other parts, also in The JoJoLands, therefore, we can witness the use of extravagant and at the same time powerful skills, and with particular characteristics coming from the artistic spirit of Araki.

In chapter 1 of The JoJoLands we are told how Paco’s stand works, but as for the others presented, too exhaustive an explanation has not yet been given. So let’s see what exactly their abilities are.

Stand capacities in The JoJoLands

As we all know, Stands is a special skill that has always been present in the JoJo series. They are a kind of spiritual entity that any character can manifest that assists them in battle, and are the result of a random genetic mutation that can occur in a person. Not everyone can experience the Stand, and the mutation appears to be hereditary. In any case, whoever demonstrates a stand must be able to control it in order to use it effectively.

That said, we still don’t know how Jodio, Dragona and the others got their stands; however, they are able to use them very skillfully, as they exploit them to commit criminal acts of all kinds.

  • November Rain this is Jodio Joestar’s booth. From what we can see, it appears to be the very first properly humanoid formless Stand possessed by a JoJo series protagonist. Johnny has finally evolved into something of a human form, and if Araki doesn’t want to go a different direction with The JoJoLands, maybe that could be the case with November Rain as well.
The only probable human feature we can see is its head, connected to a half-bust surrounded by feathers, attached to a strange underlying cone-shaped structure. From there then come out four long legs similar to a spider.
Its ability has not yet been explained, but from the manga we can at least deduce what its power is, clearly related to rain. In one panel we see how he manages to “destroy” a police officer with a rain of blows, and this ability seems to have been dubbed “Heavy Rain” by the online community, given how heavy the “drops” are fallen.

  • Smooth operators it is the Stand of Dragona Joestar, Jodio’s older brother, and appears as a Stand capable of “reconfiguring” things and people. Its appearance seems less imposing than that of Jodio’s Stand, appearing mostly as a series of humanoid-like robots, with arms and a head but with caterpillars instead of legs and feet.
His ability, as we said, is to reconfigure anything, and in this way he manages to modify and move things by grabbing them and moving them in the desired direction. Dragona used it to change the car’s license plate, modify his driver’s license, and do a little “cosmetic operation” for a policeman. It appears that this ability can be activated by touch, as it is seen being used while the character is scratching at something.

  • The bustle is the stand of Paco Lovelantes, one of the villains of Mechanism who will also be a companion of Dragona and Jodio very soon. His actual appearance has not been shown, and in Chapter 1 we see how Paco uses him through his own body.
This support allows Paco to use his muscles to grab anything, even going so far as to allow him to do so using his elbows or the front of his hands. This is the most mysterious Stand introduced so far, as it’s also unclear how long Paco can keep him active, or how many muscles he can max out before he hits his limit.

Finally, what stand or type of ability the fourth member of the newly formed crime squad might have remains unknown: the so-called “hot dog boy” still doesn’t have a real name, but may already be from from the next chapter we are going to be able to discover something more about him and the abilities that would make him so useful to Jodio, Dragona and Paco.
