The development of System shock redesign it is much longer and more problematic than many thought. In the summer of 2016, Night dive studios launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the creation of a reimagining of this important cult work. It’s a video game that practically “created” the genre of immersive simulators. Dishonored, Deus Ex… these titles wouldn’t have been the same without System Shock.
Sadly, it’s 2023 and fans are still patiently waiting for the game to release once and for all. The latest official news on this was that this remake will be released in march. However, Nightdive Studios needs more time to polish it and there’s been another change of plans.

- Instead, they assured that the game will definitely be released on PC on May 30th
- I remind you that this title does not have any type of exclusivity agreement on computers, it can be purchased on GOG, Steam and Epic Games Store
- And the console versions?: the studio hasn’t shared any news about it, so we’ll have to wait an indefinite time to find out when it can be played on PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
What improvements does System Shock Remake bring?
This reimagining of the 1994 cult classic will feature a new High definition visual section, updated controls, redesigned interface for modern times and even a completely renewed sound section (music and effects).
