A Sunrise police officer has been arrested after being charged with viewing and possessing child pornography on his personal electronic devices, authorities said.
The Department of Home Affairs began investigating 39-year-old officer Carl Haller last month after Sunrise Police, along with the FBI, conducted forensic examinations of various electronic devices, according to a news release.
Halles was initially placed on administrative leave and had his service weapons, badge and police ID stripped of him, according to the Sunrise Police statement.
Additionally, the officer has had no interaction with the public and is on unpaid administrative leave.
Haller faces charges of possession of child pornography and tampering with evidence.
The officer was arrested Saturday and taken to the Miami-Dade County Main Jail.
