The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) is warning drivers to be careful this Presidents’ Day long weekend as many motorcycles and ATVs perform dangerous maneuvers on the freeways.

On Saturday, the MDPD issued the following statement:

“Driving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or any other unauthorized vehicle on a public road or highway is illegal. Failure to obey traffic laws or the orders of a police officer will result in citations, fines and, in some cases, arrest. These vehicles are also subject to confiscation. Driving on our roads is a privilege that should not be abused.”

Last month, dozens of people were arrested and several vehicles were seized during Martin Luther King’s vacation in Miami-Dade.

With many bikers back on the roads this weekend, authorities have deployed police units to patrol the streets to prevent incidents with these types of vehicles.
