A major change is coming this week as storms usher in windy and cooler conditions.

On Tuesday, clouds and winds will increase through the afternoon. There is a chance of light rain overnight before there is a better chance of precipitation later this week.

Temperatures will become much cooler on Tuesday and Wednesday with an increased chance of rain and very low snow through Saturday.

A winter storm watch will be in effect for the mountains of Los Angeles County from Tuesday evening through Saturday afternoon. Expect heavy snowdrifts and wind gusts up to 70 mph.

Antelope Valley and Catalina Island will be under high wind watch from Tuesday evening through Tuesday evening, with winds forecast at 30-45 mph, gusting to 65 mph.

Wind advisories are likely for the entire region on Tuesday when gusts reach 45 to 55 mph.

High temperatures will drop by 4 to 8 degrees across most of the region by Tuesday, with most areas in the 50s and 60s.

By Wednesday, highs will be 10 to 20 degrees below normal. Most regions will not reach 60.

Cool conditions are expected to last at least through Friday, although they may extend into Saturday and possibly Sunday.

Moisture in the air could mean long spells of precipitation, totaling up to 5 inches in some areas by Sunday, and the snow level dropping to around 1,500 feet.
