NEW YORK — A police officer was shot in the leg Tuesday afternoon in Queens, two law enforcement sources told Our Sister Network. NBC 4.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the area of 90-65 161 Street, in the Jamaican Quarter.

The uniformed man was taken to Jamaica Hospital and his condition is unknown. Details of the shooting were also not released.

One person has been arrested in connection and authorities are looking for another person of interest, sources say.

Authorities are asking to avoid the 161st Street area between the 90th ave there Jamaica Avenue due to the large presence of emergency vehicles.
