After high winds hit southern Nevada overnight Tuesday, Las Vegas residents saw snow on Wednesday.
Viewers reported and sent footage to NBC Las Vegas of the crash at Mountain Edge, Las Vegas Ball Park, Spring Valley and others including Harry Reid International Airport.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, scattered showers have developed in parts of the valley. “Residents lucky enough to be in one of these showers may see gusts!” they wrote on Twitter.
Weather radar indicates a cold front is moving in from the southwest, bringing with it more scattered rain and snow.
Why does snow melt quickly?
Southern Nevada does not have the right temperatures for falling snow to create accumulations. In fact, it can sometimes be seen to be called water-snow, because when it hits any surface, it turns into water.
This event is known meteorologically as a graupel.
