Shingeki no Kyojin“He came back last weekend with the end of his anime part 1, which we remember is actually part 3 but it was decided to split it into 2 parts, with the second seeing the light of day in the fall of 2023. This episode left us with a LOT of interesting stuff, basically paving the way for what will be the battle that will end the “Shingeki no Kyojin” anime. However, there is something that bothers me a little: the death of THIS character in particular.

If you haven’t seen part 1 of the ending of Shingeki no Kyojin turn back, because I’m waiting for you with spoilers

That being said, what I was saying: Hange’s death doesn’t seem like a particularly wise decision to me.. And yes, I have several points to discuss:

  • That doesn’t take anything away from the character, who has shown survivability like few others, but… Why is it time for Hange to sacrifice himself and not for Connie?
  • Connie is a character that I personally think everyone in the final assault force is the one who contributes the least by himself. We all know what Mikasa and Levi are in combat, but also Jean, Armin and Hange, who have more or less demonstrated the ability to lead and/or organize an effective stratagem in a short time.
Hange is the last Shingeki no Kyojin character to meet death
  • But what does Connie have going for her? Gus, it’s clear, I don’t doubt it in the least… but I think now. On the contrary, Hange is the commander appointed by none other than Erwin, someone who Levi eventually showed respect to. He was a reference not only because of his knowledge of the Titans but because he knew how to seize the opportunity.. For Connie to measure up, it would take that sacrifice to really increase her level of success on the battlefield.
  • Yes, I understand the position of the commander who must move forward for his people, in the end it’s the same type of decision that Erwin made at the time. However, in the same way that it was decided that Armina should survive in Erwin’s place due to the former’s potential, it makes sense to me. that Hange would have survived Connie precisely because I see her much more needed for what’s involved in the challenge of assaulting Eren’s founder with the Beast as a bodyguard.

Everything about Hange’s release sequence looked spectacular to me.: how MAP he animated the various action moments, assaulting all those towering titans on the walls, until the moment he turned into a ball of fire and literally consumed his life like a match. I have no objection to Hange’s farewell as a character, just the fact that I am convinced that he would have played a much more decisive role in the conclusion of “Shingeki no Kyojin”.
