Clark County officials have identified the skeletal remains believed to have been found in Lake Mead.
One of the wrecks found in the Callville Bay area on October 17, 2022 belongs to Donald Smith of North Las Vegas. Authorities say Smith drowned in April 1974 and was 39 at the time.
The identification comes after DNA analysis and authorities ruled that Smith’s cause and manner of death was drowning.
A few days later, another body was found in Callville Bay. Authorities identified the body as Thomas Erndt, 42, of Las Vegas. However, the cause of death has not been determined.
On the other hand, on May 1, 2022, remains were discovered in a barrel in the port of Hemenway. The deceased was a man who succumbed to a gunshot wound, but authorities have not released his name.
